Ketogenic diet on PTSD

Study Description: This research project seeks to examine the effects of exogenous ketones in adults with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Specific measurements to be analyzed will include: 1.) physical stress response, 2.) personal grit, 3.) gut and immune health, 4.) circulating systemic inflammation and endocrine hormone levels, 5) serum triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and 6.) cognitive performance related to short-term memory, attention span, and reaction time. Measure of the aforementioned variables will be recorded pre- and post-intervention of a 6-week ketogenic diet or exogenous ketone supplementation. Pre- and post- intervention results will be compared to determine the efficacy of the ketogenic diet on the various emotional, cognitive, and physiological health parameters in individuals with PTSD.
