Study Description: This project will look at factors that may contribute to bone breakdown (known as avascular necrosis or osteonecrosis) in patients with sickle cell disease. A total of 80 patients will be enrolled for data collection and collection of a blood sample for testing of certain factors that may be related to bone health. A sub-set of 20 of those subjects will also have optional testing done that provides information about the lining of the blood vessels (endothelium) and about body composition and bone strength.
