Study Description: This study is being done to test if the long-acting injectable medication aripiprazole once-monthly can help people with schizophrenia take their medicine more regularly than taking daily oral (taken by mouth) medication. Aripiprazole once-monthly been approved by the U. S. Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in treating the symptoms of illness. An estimated 25 subjects with schizophrenia will be screened for eligibility in Stage 1 in an effort to randomize enough subjects to allow for subjects identified as non-adherent to be entered into Stage 2 of the study.

Eligibility Criteria: Subjects must meet all of the following criteria to be included in this study: 1. Are able to provide written informed consent 2. Are 18 to 60 years of age 3. Has a current diagnosis of schizophrenia 4. Have been prescribed a single oral antipsychotic medication for at least 3 months prior to screening
Compensation: Yes, subjects will be compensated.
Compensation Explanation: Will I be paid for taking part in the study? Yes. You will receive payment for taking part in this study. You will be paid for your time and transportation at the end of each fully completed visit. If you do not complete all study procedures during a visit, you will only be paid $10 to cover your transportation costs. If necessary, you may be asked to come in for unscheduled visits, including brief clinical monitoring visits with the study doctor. During those visits you will be paid $15. You will be paid at the end of each visit throughout the entire study. There are no funds available to pay for lost time away from work and other activities, lost wages, or child care expenses.
