Stem cells derived from human umbilical cord blood

Study Description: The study will involve collection of 100 cc blood samples from umbilical cords from healthy individuals after the babies are born and the placenta are removed. The site will be at the AU Obstetrics delivery clinic. No special consideration will be given to age, race and ethnic components while obtaining the samples. The samples will not be collected if the subject fails infectious disease screening i. e. HIV, hepatitis, cytomegalovirus, TB etc. The samples derived will only be used for research purposes. Samples that need to be discarded (e. g. low viability of stem cells) will follow AU guidelines on disposal of hazardous materials.

Eligibility Criteria: 18 and above pregnant women without recent history of infection (HIV, TB, hepatitis, cytomegalovirus etc)

Compensation: No, subjects will not be compensated.
