The following steps must be successfully completed for each investigator and all laboratory personnel before they will be authorized to work with animals or enter any animal facility at Augusta University.
Must be completed by Principal Investigator, Business Manager or Lab Manager for each person exposed to your animals at Augusta University.

Once an Access Request is submitted, new personnel must be added to the database by LAS or IACUC staff before they can be placed on a protocol. Access requests that do not include specific building code and room numbers will not be granted animal facility access. The Principal Investigator will be notified when a request is submitted.
Must be completed by all research personnel.
Complete the online Occupational Health Screening Questionnaire. This tool determines if personnel must be evaluated by employee health.

Complete the online LAS Vivarium Practices and Policies Training.
Once all prior steps (1-5) are completed and clearance is granted by Occupational Health/ Employee Health, The LAS Training Coordinator will contact you to schedule your final hands-on training.
NOTE: The entire process often takes 2 weeks or more to complete. Prompt responses to email from LASACCESS, IACUC, ANIMALOHP, and LASTRAINING will ensure the most expedited clearance.
All personnel will be notified of annual renewal requirements via email. Failure to complete annual renewals will result in loss of animal facility access.
