Writing Groups are a safe space for writers to discuss their writing and writing goals in a group setting. Groups meet on a regular basis at a time and date decided upon by group members. Each writing group is assigned a Writing Consultant that will facilitate discussion and activities. Groups can focus on goal setting, peer review, or a mix of both. They can occur in person or online. Groups can focus on a specific course, assignment, genre of writing, or writing concern, or they can be open to general concerns. Writing groups have proven to improve student success, confidence, writing ability, and productivity.
A typical writing group has between 4 and 6 members. Writers can assemble a group themselves and request that the Writing Center facilitate, or individuals can contact the Writing Center Director, Candis Bond, at email@example.com to be added to a group.
