March is Women's History Month and serves as a nationally recognized period to celebrate the accomplishments, contributions, and histories of women.
For more information about the legislative origins of Women's History Month, see the Women's History Month page at the Law Library of Congress. International Women's Day also occurs early in March each year, prompting individuals to women's experiences in a global context.
The Women's and Gender Studies Program, in association with multiple departments on campus, puts together a series of events in March. Every other year, the Women's and Gender Studies Symposium serves as a key event for Women's History Month; additional events include community lectures, film showings, and service events.
