Children learn best by doing! They are happy when they are engaged in learning! The Kids University program offers half-day or full-day academic enrichment programs designed for kids who have completed Kindergarten through 8th grade. All courses and activities promote creativity, critical thinking and most of all...FUN! Many of the courses are written by College of Education Faculty utilizing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and theatre.
Augusta University Health Sciences Summer Academy (HSSA) is designed as a precollegiate introduction to the academic and professional world of health sciences. The academy provides intense, hands-on activities during the day including building health skills set, simulations and case studies. Students will explore scientific discovery and research. The HSSA curriculum is devoted to specific themes of patient assessment, chronic illness, disease and trauma care. There are two separate components to HSSA. Students may choose Introductory Week One or Advanced Week Two. Students cannot attend both.
Criminal Justice Track Residential Student Camp is a four (4) week residential program for 40 rising junior and senior high school students. The 28-day camp will be held from Saturday, July 1, 2017 thru Saturday, July 29, 2017.
Open to 36 rising high school seniors, juniors, and exceptional sophomores, the focus of this camp will be on emergent leaders with topics on teamwork, collaboration, communication, individual styles, and group dynamics. Students will participate in workshops and programs on the Summerville and Health Sciences campuses of Augusta University. Events will include lectures, keynote speakers, activities, and at least one field trip (local area. This residential camp is interactive and experiential learning based.
The Augusta University Band Camp is open to rising 6th-12th grade band students with at least one year experience and provides middle and high school students with intensive musical experiences and plenty of fun. There are two concert bands, one middle and one high school band. All students will participate in master class instruction specific to each instrument and instrument family taught by local experts. In addition to master classes, music theory, and music history, campers may choose to participate in electives including jazz improvisation, African drumming, piano, ukulele, and jazz band.
The Augusta University Choir Camp is open to rising 6th - 12th graders who have had at least one year of choir or private lesson experience. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Large Choir, attend master classes and participate in vocal chamber music which will include music ranging from classical to musical theater repertoire.
Opera and Musical Theater Summer Intensive at Augusta University, offered through the Pamipli College of Arts is designed for high school students (rising 9-12 grade) and young adults (rising undergraduate students ages 18-25), this two-week workshop is an all-inclusive experience for students to explore in-depth Opera and Musical Theater from beginning to end. This two-week, intensive experience includes voice lessons, acting and movement classes, instruction in stage makeup, seminars and master classes with international artists and fully staged and costumed scene productions.
This inaugural Augusta University Summer Theatre Camp offers an exciting opportunity for two groups of young people: those in 6th to 8th grades and those in 9th to 12th grades. We've planned a week of acting, theatre games, workshops, audition tips, costuming plus a peek backstage and more than a few surprises. The one-week session will conclude with a showcase at the Maxwell Theatre on the Summerville Campus to reveal what the campers have learned.
