What is the GenCyber Camp?

The GenCyber Camp is designed to introduce high school students to the academic and professional world of cybersecurity. Students will learn from experts in the field and experience, first-hand, the consequences of a cyberattack. There will also be additional "top secret" hands-on learning experiences for students.

When does the GenCyber Camp take place?

The GenCyber Residential Camp will be held June 26th – July 1st for 30 rising junior and senior high school students.

The GenCyber Day Camp will be held July 10th - 15th for 30 rising sophomore, junior and senior high school students.

Can a student attend both the Health Sciences Summer Academy and GenCyber Camp?

As long as students are eligible and accepted, they can indeed attend both camps. They would simply attend the GenCyber Camp the first week and then return the next week to attend the Health Sciences Summer Academy (or vice versa). However, students wishing to attend both academies must fill out an application for each program because the selection criteria is different.

Who is eligible to attend the GenCyber Camps?

The GenCyber Residential Camp will be held June 26th – July 1st for 30 rising junior and senior high school students.

The GenCyber Day Camp will be held July 10th - 15th for 30 rising sophomore, junior and senior high school students.

The GenCyber Camps are FREE to all accepted students.

I attend a private school/home school. Am I eligible to apply for the GenCyber Camps?

Absolutely!

What are the criteria for being accepted to GenCyber Camp? Is there a minimum GPA or minimum test score that must be met?

Students who attend the GenCyber Camp shall demonstrate exceptional skill, creativity, and knowledge in math and science. Academic achievement and social maturity are considered in the selection process. There is no specific numerical minimum test score or GPA set by the committee, however, admittance to the program is competitive.

I am a special needs student, and require special considerations to attend class and for room accommodations. Can I still participate in the GenCyber Camps if accepted?

Yes. All rising sophomore, junior and senior high school students are eligible to participate in the GenCyber Day Camp.  All rising junior and senior high school students are eligible to participate in the GenCyber Residential Camp.  If a student is accepted to either GenCyber camp, the camp staff will partner with the child/parent to determine if successful modifications or accommodations are possible within the confines of the program.

Will I be graded or given any credits for the work I complete while at the GenCyber Camps?

The GenCyber Camps are prestigious, pre-collegiate summer programs, but they do not provide grades or college course credit. Accepted students are not required to take any exit exams or standardized tests regarding major courses of study. Accepted students who attend the program will receive a certificate of completion during the Graduation Ceremony.

I am interested in attending another summer program, but the dates overlap. May I start late or leave early?

Accepted students are required to attend all six (6) days of the program. Exceptions to this will be rare and limited to emergency situations and must be disclosed prior to the camp start date.
