The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior is fortunate to 'host' two specialist psychiatric journals: Clinical Schizophrenia and Related Psychoses and Journal of ECT . Dr. Peter Buckley, Dean of the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University, leads a world-renowned editorial board team for this new, clinically-oriented journal , Clinical Schizophrenia & Related Psychoses . We are fortunate also to collaborate on this journal with Dr. Deanne Kelly and Ms. Karen Horn in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland.
The Journal of ECT, edited by Dr. Vaughn McCall, Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, is dedicated to the Science of Electroconvulsive Therapy and Related Treatments: Official Journal of the Association for Convulsive Therapy, an allied organization of the American Psychiatric Association.
These two journals are an important academic contribution to psychiatry and they give tremendous national visibility for our Department of Psychiatry. We are fortunate to have this opportunity.
Clinical Schizophrenia & Related Psychoses (CS) is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal providing psychiatrists and other physicians and healthcare professionals with clinical information relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of people suffering from schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses [more] .
The Journal of ECT covers all aspects of electroconvulsive therapy and related treatments. Leading clinicians and researchers examine the effects of induced seizures, as well as non-convulsive brain stimulation, on behavior and organ systems; review important research results on the mode of induction, occurrence, and propagation of seizures; explore the difficult sociological, ethical, and legal issues concerning the use of ECT; and discuss the latest developments in rTMS, VNS, MST, and DBS.
