Thank you for interest in the Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology at Augusta University, Augusta, Georgia.

Our training program offers an exciting opportunity for fellows to acquire a very strong, comprehensive foundation in all aspects of Gastroenterology/Hepatology, including consultations in Gastroenterology/Hepatology, advanced procedures, clinical and basic sciences. Our three-year program is carved out to prepare fellows to become well-rounded gastroenterologists in the career path of their choice, whether academic gastroenterology or private practice.

Three important missions of our program are to impart the most up-to-date and wholistic clinical training, research training and development, and to instill the tenets of learning to be a distinguished educator.

The clinical training is offered at both Augusta University, Premier Medical Center - Augusta University Medical Center and Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (which is conveniently connected to the Augusta University via a walk-bridge). The program offers training in a wide variety of clinical situations from simple to complex gastrointestinal disorders. The fellows acquire competence in a wide variety of procedures which include upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, capsule enteroscopy and upper and lower gastrointestinal motility.

Research exposure, both in basic science and clinical medicine, is available through basic science scientists and gastroenterology faculty.

Education is the key component of our mission. It is offered at both the Augusta University and the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. Education of our fellows is carried out through core curriculum topic presentation, problem conference, radiology and pathology meetings, interdisciplinary meetings and journal clubs. We are proud to announce that we have a 100% gastroenterology board examination pass rate for the last 10 years. We maintain the highest standards in everything we do and share with our fellows the joys and challenges of a professional career. Nevertheless, we never lose sight of the possibilities of having fun along the way.

We welcome your interest in our program.

Sincerely,

Subbaramiah Sridhar, MBBS, MPH
