Lillian Varner Nominated as Fellowship Recipient Candidate
Augusta University’s Chapter of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa has nominated Augusta University Sociology major Lillian Varner to receive a National PKP Fellowship. The honor society is expected to name this year’s recipients in June.
As a student, Varner serves as executive member of Augusta University’s Student Veteran Association and she also serves a math tutor for military affiliated students receiving benefits with the assistance of Augusta University’s Office of Military and Veterans Affairs.
In addition to her work at Augusta University, she volunteers with several civic organizations including the National Association of Professional Women and the Sexual Assault Prevention/Response. She also managed security requirements for 400 personnel while serving in the United States Air Force and solicited over $2,000 in support of multiple Air Force charities.
Upon graduating in May, Varner plans to attend graduate school to obtain a Master’s degree in Social Work.
