Office of Nonresident Alien Tax Compliance

As the world grows smaller and technology, research and ideas are shared daily through international and cultural interaction, Augusta University desires to promote and encourage an environment that gives limitless consideration to all who will support the mission of Augusta University. Procuring such research and ideas exposes Augusta University to numerous tax liability situations. As a result, international tax reporting and withholding is almost certainly unique to a case-by-case basis.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the U.S. government tax authority, has issued strict regulations regarding the taxation and reporting of payments made to Non U.S. citizens. As a result, Augusta University may be required to withhold U.S. income tax and file reports with the IRS in connection with any payments made to its Non U.S. Citizen employees, students, independent contractors and foreign nationals.

The Office of Nonresident Alien Tax Compliance exists to serve the Non U.S. Citizen employees, students, independent contractors and foreign nationals of the Augusta University community. Augusta University utilizes " GLACIER Online Tax Compliance System developed by Arctic International LLC" and IRS publications to ensure that both tax reporting and withholding are in constant compliance with the Department of Treasury and Internal Revenue Service Code.
