James M. Hull College of Business
Bill began teaching at Augusta University’s Hull College of Business in the Fall of 2009. He has taught and teaches: Management Theory and Practice, Principals of Marketing, Retail Management, Sales and Sales Management, and Strategic Management. He has also taught Leadership and Business Ethics at Augusta Technical Institute in Augusta, Georgia.
Bill has over 40 years of marketing and management experience in manufacturing, retail businesses, real estate, residential mortgage, media marketing, and as an entrepreneur. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Marketing from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky and a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) from Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia. Bill is also a member of The Honor Society of PHI KAPPA PHI.
After serving in the United States Air Force, Bill worked for General Electric Company for 12 years, 6 years in operations management and 6 years in outside sales as manufacturer’s representative. As a sales representative he was recognized in GE’s Investor magazine as one of top 5 sales representatives in the company. He was recruited by one of his top clients to be Vice President and General Manager of a then 25 store chain of retail furniture stores. In early 1980’s he developed a franchise system and program for that company. Also, in early 1980’s as an entrepreneur he opened a retail store in Augusta, Georgia which through next several years he grew from one store to a 19 store chain operating in 4 southeastern states with over 150 employees. In early 1990’s he sold those stores bought another retail operation and became a licensed realtor. Since then he was a General Manager for two other national retail businesses, (Bassett and Havertys Furniture). He retired from the retail business in 2012. In 2010 he became a licensed Mortgage Loan Officer. From 2014 to June of 2018 he worked with Trantergrey Media Group, Evans, Georgia as an account executive assisting business accounts with developing marketing plans using all types of marketing products.
Bill resides in Martinez, Georgia with his wife Paula. He enjoys teaching, playing golf, fishing and frequent beach trips.
