Caminar Latino: Steps Against Domestic Violence

Caminar LatinoDate: Thursday, Nov. 9

Finding a new place to live.
Navigating the legal system.
Treating your injuries.
Securing a social support system.

These are a few of the many steps victims of domestic violence must take to leave abusive relationships. Caminar Latino takes steps daily to reduce domestic violence within the Hispanic community in Georgia. Doing so requires special attention to the challenges faced by immigrant survivors of domestic violence. Our keynote speaker, Jessica Nunan, the director of Caminar Latino will discuss these issues and help identify steps those of us here in Augusta can take to reduce domestic violence in our own community.

Representatives from SafeHomes of Augusta Domestic Violence Center, Asociación Latina de Servicios del CSRA, and the Hispanic Business Alliance will also speak. Local organizations who provide healthcare and/or services to victims of domestic violence will share information.

Lunch will be provided.
