Many candidates who are unfamiliar with Augusta University may need access to the facilities prior to the CRDTS exam. To comply with state laws and institutional policies, an orientation course is designed to allow you to evaluate (NOT TREAT) patients who you may wish to treat during the examination. Assistance in preparation for the examination will include orientation, tour, access to clinic for screening activities, and access to laboratory and supplies for preparation and practicing the procedures that do not involve patients.
Individualized instruction on specific procedures is beyond the scope of this course. However, on scheduled days faculty will be available to provide individualized feedback on dentoform preparations. A limited number of ivorine teeth, as well as the recommended diamond burs, will be made available to each participant.
It is the responsibility of each candidate to provide their own patients. Augusta University does not have a broad patient pool and does not allow applicants access to patient records (this includes active patients assigned to students). Securing back-up patients is strongly advised.

Augusta University will supply the instruments for the orientation course, but for the actual exam, instruments must be provided by the candidate or rented from Augusta University for an additional fee. Course participants must bring their own dentoforms as these are not supplied by The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University.
