YES. There is a facility fee (test site fee) above the examination fee charged by CRDTS. Current facility fees are:

  • DENTAL - $600.00 - Full Exam Fee for Non-DCG Student Candidates; Patient only – $300.00; Manikin Pros/Endo only – $300.00 
  • DENTAL HYGIENE - $175.00

Facility fees must be received by Augusta University two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled exam date.

Dental Candidates: You may pay the facility fee online with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express) at augustahealth.org/dentalpay. This link will take you to The Dental College of Georgia Patient Account Payment website where you will need to enter '2132525' in the Patient Account Number field and your personal information (name and last four digits of your SSN) in the patient fields. Or, you may pay the facility fee with a cashier’s check, certified check, or money order payable to "The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University." NO. It is the responsibility of each candidate to provide their own patients. Augusta University does not have a broad patient pool and does not allow applicants access to patient records. Securing back-up patients is strongly advised. The board requires that candidates make arrangements for their patients to receive follow-up care if treatment during the exam is unsatisfactory.

All questions regarding eligibility of patients and/or types of patients must be answered through the Central Regional Dental Testing Service, Inc. (CRDTS) Central Office at info@crdts.org or 785-273-0380.

NO. Treatment of patients within the Dental College of Georgia is restricted to academically registered students only, except on the days of the CRDTS examination.

Instruments are available for rent. The cost is the same for renting one or more instruments.

Dental (all parts of the exam OR clinic exam only):

  • Includes handpieces and instrumentation
  • $6,000 Total Charge - will be charged to MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express
  • $1,000 Non-refundable rental fee
  • $5,000 Security deposit - will be credited back to credit card after instruments have been returned to the 3rd floor Collection Room (simulation exam) and the 4th floor Collection Room (clinic exam) and checked

Dental (simulation exam only):

  • Includes handpieces and instrumentation
  • $3,000 Total Charge - will be charged to MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express
  • $500 Non-refundable rental fee
  • $2,500 Security deposit - will be credited back to credit card after instruments have been returned to the 3rd floor Collection Room and checked

Dental (periodontal patient exam only) and Dental Hygiene:

  • $1,500 Total Charge - will be charged to MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express
  • $350 Non-refundable rental fee
  • $1,150 Security deposit - will be credited back to credit card after instruments have been returned to the 4th floor Collection Room and checked

Candidates must contact the DCG Business Office no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to the Board Examination. We are not able to accept online payments or checks for instrument rental fees. Therefore, these fees must be paid by phone with a credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express). The candidate's credit card will be charged the total amount (e.g., $6,000, $3,000 or $1,500 for Dental; $1,500 for Hygiene). The candidate will report to the 3rd floor Dispensary (if taking the simulation exam) or the 4th floor Dispensary (if taking the clinic exam) for instrument pick-up the morning of the exam. The candidate will return instruments to the respective Collection Room where an inspection of the instruments will be made. If all instruments are returned and are undamaged, the respective Collection Room will give the candidate a statement indicating that their credit card will be credited the refundable amount (i.e., Security deposit). The cost for any missing or damaged instruments will be deducted from the refundable amount. The refund will be applied to the candidate's credit card by Tuesday following the Board Examination. If you should experience any difficulty with our facility's equipment during the examination, do not attempt to make repairs. A qualified equipment technician will be available in the clinic. Inform the clinic assistant of any equipment problems.

YES, but Augusta University is not responsible for supplying chairside assistants. Candidates are responsible for supplying their own chairside assistants.

Currently there is a no visitors on campus policy in place at Augusta University. Therefore, we cannot allow dental candidates to visit the Dental College of Georgia to become acquainted with our facilities at this time.

Dental candidates may access the clinic and simulation lab at 7 a.m. on the exam days. Dental hygiene candidates may seat their patients and prepare their assigned treatment areas 45 minutes prior to the published patient approval time.

Handpieces and all instruments must be supplied by the candidate (unless rented from Augusta University; see fourth question above). If you intend to use fiber optics, then you must have a handpiece that fits a 4-hole ISO coupling. Dental operatories are equipped with DENTSPLY 30K cavitrons. If you have questions concerning our equipment, please email Nekesha Fallen or call 706-721-6180. NOTE: Do not bring KAVO handpieces or KAVO ultrasonic scalers (hygiene exam). Only handpieces that connect to a standard 4-hole ISO coupling will work in our clinic.

NO. Candidates must supply their own dentoform/typodont as specified by CRDTS. The dentoform/typodont must be purchased in advance through Acadental directly at www.acadental.com. The CRDTS-approved typodonts will be mounted on simulators in the Thomas P. Hinman Simulation Lab. Facial shrouds will be provided to all candidates by the Dental College of Georgia.
