The Department of Family and Community Medicine’s faculty and residents participate in the education of approximately 240 students in each class of the Medical College of Georgia’s four year curriculum.

This includes the first and second year Essentials of Clinical Medicine Courses, a third year six-week Family and Community Medicine Clerkship as well as externships and multiple electives in the fourth year. Students have an opportunity to interact with faculty and residents in the Family and Community Medicine Center, on various hospital rotations to include the Family and Community Medicine Inpatient Service and in the student-run free clinics in the local community. This interaction provides opportunities for students to learn and be mentored by faculty and residents as they participate in primary care clinical services and research emphasizing Patient- and Family-Centered Care and population health.
