Research

Our faculty in the Department of Medical Laboratory, Imaging, and Radiologic Sciences are regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized researchers who capitalize on the synergistic education provided to our students through their engagement in research projects and dissemination of new knowledge.

Current research programs are funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), private companies, and the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURS) at Augusta University.  While educating the next generations of technically oriented healthcare professionals, student education is bolstered through research in the areas of cardiac and molecular imaging, hematology, microbiology, molecular clinical diagnostics, blood banking and transfusion practices, brain (stroke) science, and genetic modulation of mitochondrial function.
